I believe curiosity and an enquiring mind make belonging to any organized religion utterly impossible, Joao Nascimento.
I am in the same boat as you, but I was raised secular, too therefore there were no attempts to indoctrinate my young mind. Instead, it was left free to roam and fed countless books on all kinds of topics.
As you underline, courage is one of the tenets of unbelievers, because going against the grain and skepticism take guts and oodles of critical thinking. Religion is easy, it’s like a TV dinner for the mind, or at least that’s how I’ve always thought of it.
Personally, I prefer to cook from scratch. :-)
Then again, I have often envied the faith of others, for they seem to have something to lean on in times of extreme difficulty while I do not, at least not in the supernatural sense.
Instead, I lean on fellow humans if and when available, as you know.
