I don’t think I’ll be able to let go until the bond between my mother and I is severed by death, Shelley Roes, whichever one of us goes first.

Meanwhile, I’ll keep trying to build bridges until it gets impossible. There’s always a part of me that hopes for improvement but I know now that I need to protect myself.

And as an adult, I finally can. xo
