I’m not expecting anyone to, Arkady Sheinin, and that isn’t the reason I wrote this piece. No one is expected to fail at immigration to the US because anyone who comes over explicitly or tacitly co-opts the American Dream.

I did.

Stories like mine are seldom told because they represent epic failures.

Also, I have no doubt my experience would have been quite different if I had been able to access health care, among other things.
