Then again, we’re all experts… in ourselves. But of course that’s hardly a selling point for anything.
There’s a great book about “the campaign against established knowledge” called The Death of Expertise, by Tom Nichols. And he is refreshingly blunt.
I live in WA and we have a measles outbreak because some parents refuse to vaccinate their kids. Because they’ve decided their expertise is far superior than established science, we have a public health hazard on our hands.
