Once again, a hugely relatable essay, Kayli Kunkel. I lost my best friend — my North Star of over 20 years — at the end of September and my brain keeps short-circuiting. This is made worse by his ongoing digital presence.

Whenever I log into gmail, there he is, still learning hangouts.

Whenever I log into Skype, there he is with a status message that reads “Today, I am very far away…”. How very prescient of him. He went into hospital and never came out. Some days, grief sits on my chest with the full weight of a grand piano and I just can’t breathe. I still can’t. But I do, because I need to keep going.

He would have wanted me to and that’s reason enough.
