Some stories don’t take off, it’s just par for the course. Sometimes it’s because our writing is below par (I’ve written some suckers and I will write some more), sometimes the subject matter doesn’t resonate, sometimes we hit publish at the wrong time… Who knows? It’s very hard to gauge how a story will be received.

As for suggestions, the one thing you aren’t doing is letting your text breathe. Instead of big blocks of text, try and separate your paragraphs more. It’s easier on the eyes and easier to read.

There may be something else you can do with tags too. More generic ones have a bigger following, and most of what you write about can easily fall under Life or Life Lessons for example.

But it may not make a difference, I don’t know. I’m not particularly au fait with the workings of Medium, but you can find valuable info in the writings of Jonathan Greene who has been documenting the platform’s changes and its various incarnations for a long time. If you have a question, he may well know the answer.

Lastly, one thing I do with technical questions is email Medium support. It doesn’t hurt to try, and they’re very good at replying.

Please don’t stop writing though…
