The problem with vulnerability is the commodification of human emotions because, well, it pays. Hence the slew of “woe is me” narratives rehashing past humiliation, pain, shame… Voyeurism and schadenfreude don’t promote human dignity, they just undermine it.
Without it, who are we though?
I’m intrigued by your take on productivity as well, Megan Holstein. It makes a lot of sense to me as I tend to dive into things and not come up for air until they’re done. 12-hour days aren’t uncommon but I have absolutely no structure or schedule, just processes I can rely on. So you’ve given me something to chew on that might actually make life even more enjoyable and gentler.
