There’s something that always rings phony about their relentless platform evangelization, Michael K. Spencer, at least to me.

Why are they selling it and themselves so hard? Is it because writing a piece about Medium is the quickest way to make bank? It often reads like platform advertising disguised as native storytelling to me and I keep waiting for disclosure that doesn’t come.

As a result, I remain quite unable to parse what the message of those so-called influencers actually is or whether they even have one that might add value to the lives of others.

Is it some bizarre stealthy marketing campaign? If so, it fails to show the product under its best light, IMO, because such “bumf” never ever showcases what good, original content looks like.

And that, on a platform where words supposedly matter, foxes me no end.
